day 6 - Main Cleanse
This is your second-to-last day of eating kichari!
You may be wondering how to create variety with your meals at this point. While the most effective cleanse is simple, there are options if you need a little extra nourishment. Add a side of steamed veggies for variety, or try a fall-themed kichari with yams, cinnamon, and nutmeg for a delicious breakfast. Mexicali kichari with cumin, paprika, and fresh cilantro on top is another great option.
For those of you who are feeling a bit too light, spacey, or weak, it’s time to make sure you’re getting enough nourishment. Sweet potatoes added to your kichari are perfect for extra energy. If it feels like you need more food, and it’s not just a craving, consider adding a green soup from the recipe packet or a toasted sheet of nori for replenishing minerals.
Emotional Check-In:
This is also a good time to reflect on the emotional cleansing that’s happening. When toxins (ama) are lodged in the body, they often trap emotions with them. As you release these toxins, old feelings and memories may rise to the surface. It’s not just physical—it’s emotional too. Journaling or even writing a letter (whether you send it or not) can be incredibly cathartic. Let whatever is coming up flow out, and keep a reverent attitude during this process.
All experiences are valid, and you’re doing an amazing job!
