day 5 - Main Cleanse
We’re deep into it now, and your self-care and commitment are already making a difference. The benefits of this cleanse will stay with you for a long time, so here’s a little extra encouragement:
Waiting between meals lets your Agni (digestive fire) burn bright again. In Ayurveda, caring for your Agni is the foundation of health. Anything that doesn’t serve your body will be burned up and eliminated—unless your Agni is weak. Overeating, frequent snacking, and stress can weaken Agni. This kichari cleanse is designed to restore balance to your digestive fire.
Every time you feel hunger, know that your body is burning something up that needs to go. But, if hunger turns into low blood sugar or dizziness, you’ve gone too far. Make sure you’re eating enough at meals to avoid those crashes.
Emotional Cleansing: When toxins leave the body, emotions often rise to the surface, too. You’re not alone in this process! It’s perfectly normal for old emotions to come up during a cleanse. Quiet time, meditation, or journaling can help you process what’s surfacing. Give yourself the space to feel whatever comes up, and release it. If you need to cry, yell, or express yourself—go for it! It’s all part of the cleanse.
Remember, this week is about lightening the load on your body and mind. You’re doing incredible work just by showing up, so give yourself a huge pat on the back!
