The Girls Home, Nicaragua

MISSION

Souljourn Yoga is a 501c(3) Non-Profit Organization with a focus on empowering women and girls in LEC’s (Lesser Economically Developed Countries).  Currently, over 130 million girls around the world are denied an education, which also means they're denied the chance to improve their overall health, income, and quality of life.  A girl with an education is also less likely to become a victim of violence and child marriage, which are two predominant issues that women face across the globe. Our goal is to raise awareness and funds for these girls via our yoga retreats. We provide a quality yoga retreat experience by taking groups of yogis (and yogis-to-be) to beautiful countries that are sought-after destinations for retreats and travel.  We see the sights, experience the beauty of the country, and lead daily yoga and meditation classes. In each country, we partner with a local non-profit that's working to give the girls' in their region an education and $300-$500 of each retreat participants' fee goes directly to this non-profit.  We always visit them so there's a bridge built between the donor and the donation recipient.

RETREATS

Souljourn Yoga takes groups of yogis (a welcome blend of total beginners, advanced practitioners, women, and men) to beautiful countries around the world while always providing a safe, secure, and supported atmosphere.  Retreats include daily yoga and/or meditation practices, guided exploration of the country, adventures (depending on the retreat: hiking, zip-lining, biking, camping), specialty experiences (depending on the retreat:  surfing, cooking, sweat lodges), and an opportunity to meet and take part in a kids/teens yoga class and/or artistic project with the girls from the organization we are supporting.  A portion of your retreat fee will always go directly to that specific organization and is tax-deductible for you.

OUR IMPACT

In 2017 we were able to take groups of yogis on retreats to Nicaragua, Peru, Cambodia, and Morocco. In each country, our group visited one of our “sister” non-profit organizations that we work with - and a portion of each retreat participants retreat fee went directly to each non-profit.  In a beautiful (and successful) attempt to build the bridge between those donating and those receiving the donation, we spent 1-2 days meeting the girls, practicing yoga with them, and engaging them (and our retreat participants) in yogic activities and art projects.

For every participant on our retreats, $300-$500 of the total amount of the cost of the retreat was donated directly to each "sister" non-profit

Our continuous goal is to match every $300-$500 donation. With your help, we will be able to meet that goal annually.
Please help us to build a generation of educated and empowered young women across the globe.
